The Book Blurb for this week is for the book: The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry. I thought this would be a wonderful book to plug at the start of the season of giving. The Gift of the Magi is a magical book that really highlights the power of love. Della and Jim both want to buy one another something special for Christmas. However, they do not have a lot of money to do so. They make sacrifices in order to give each other lovely gifts, only to find that it doesn’t really work out. I don’t want to give away the story, but I can assure you, it is one that will move you. I first heard this story in high school and I have never forgotten its powerful message. I have a miniature copy of this book and I will make it a Christmas season tradition to read it every year when Baby Ap and Baby Er are older. It really demonstrates the true meaning of the holidays. The Gift of the Magi is a gift in itself.
