Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. I hope you find it to be a place you will frequent often. You might be wanting to know more about me and who I am. Well, I’m a wife, a mother, a daughter, a friend, a teacher, a citizen, an activist, an artist, a reader, a writer, a person, a being, a soul. I was inspired to create this website after my twins (Baby Ap and Baby Er – names reflective of the first initials in their first and middle names) were born. I have always felt a strong connection to nature and the planet, and yet never knew how that could translate into something tangible.
While I was pregnant, I began ferociously scouring printed material, both online and on paper, about how to maintain the health of myself, my husband, my children, my family, my community, and my world. I found that there was so much information out there that hardly anyone ever got to hear, discuss, evaluate, process, and digest. It was a matter of where and how to find it. When I stumbled upon something that left an impression on me, I felt like I had to share it with everyone I knew. But how? Enter…buckbuckgoose.com.
Prior to its current state, my website primarily served as a resource for parents and families of the students I taught. Having taken some time away from teaching, I felt that my online presence would better serve others if it reflected my newest passion: motherhood.
Motherhood is many things to many people. To me, it is about being a doer, actually doing things and getting stuff done. (See the “Power of Ing” page) It is about making the environment your children grow up in one that is as healthy, productive, sustainable, supportive, and joyful as possible. If I’m going to be striving for that, why not share the experience with others. Think of it as a form of “Pay It Forward.” If I find something that moves me in some way, share it with you and you are then moved, you might share it with someone else and so on and so on. That’s how things happen. That’s how things change. That’s how things get done.
I can only hope that a tiny piece of this website will spark a morsel of your interest. The best ideas begin as sparks and grow into raging infernos of brilliance. Who knows, maybe you’ll find your spark today and change the world tomorrow.
